"The Clarion trusts that all Washingtonians have not formed the same opinion of it that is entertained by our fair subscriber; by so doing they would be doing us an injustice. The Clarion's mission upon earth is not to vilify Washington-not more so than it is to vilify Opelousas, or Grand Coteau,  or Ville Platte, or Prairie des Femmes, or an other place."
