La Prairie des Femmes

La Prairie des Femmes

La Prairie des Femmes is the historical name of an unincorporated community in French Louisiana where I make my home with my family. She is a pre-colonial prairie that was a refuge for Native, Cajun and Creole women across pre-history into modern times. As a resident of the Prairie des Femmes, French teacher and writer I have dedicated my life to learning about my culture through our land and folklore. This blog was begun anonymously in 2012 as a way to share my research, writing, art, photography, ethnobotany and perspective as a bilingual woman in this digital representation of the community of La Prairie des Femmes.
